LexThink.1 – The Future of Law

LexThink.1

What is LexThink.1?
LexThink.1 is a community event produced by JoAnna Forshee (CEO, InsideLegal.com)and Matt Homann (CEO, LexThink) that takes place the night before the ABA TECHSHOW in Chicago. We first held LexThink.1 (then called Ignite Law) in 2010 and it has been a recurring annual event since then. It is based on the Ignite format; a fast-paced, high-energy evening of five-minute talks by people who have an idea. Since LexThink.1 is specific to the legal community, we have a six minute presentation time, reflecting the way lawyers bill (in 1/10 hour increments). The format is very challenging but a lot of fun! We cover all facets of The Future of Law with each year having a master theme. Here are the videos of the presentations for the past 5 years’ with more information on the event below.

LexThink.1 Event At-A-Glance

Who can submit to speak?
Anyone. In fact, the coolness of the event comes from having a variety of speakers viewpoint. We are happy to have first time speakers as well as established thought leaders in the industry. Anyone is open to submit a topic to present at LexThink.1 – attorneys, law students, vendors, consultants, media, anyone…

Who decides the speakers?
The community. The submissions are loaded to the website and then we open for the community to vote for the speakers/topics they would like to see offered. The top 7 vote getters are chosen and the LexThink.1 committee (Matt, JoAnna & Jobst Elster) chooses another 3 (not among the top seven vote-getters). Our selections are based in part upon importance and/or novelty of the presentation’s topic, the speaker’s standing in the legal marketplace and how cool their speech might be.

How can I attend?
If you would like to attend, you can register for a free ticket (thanks to our sponsors) through the website. The space is limited and tickets always run out so make sure to secure your ticket early. If you reserve a ticket and then find that you can’t attend, please cancel your ticket so someone on the waiting list may attend in your place.

Can I view past presentations?
Yes. We record our speakers and you can view past presentations via our YouTube channel. I’ve also included links to the presentations sorted by year below.

Can I get a media pass?
Any media requests should be forwarded to Jobst Elster with InsideLegal.com. He can assist with any information and interview requests and provide more information.

Can I sponsor?
Yes. We appreciate all sponsors as they help keep this event free for all to attend. The LexThink.1 audience consists of some of the most influential people in our industry so it’s an incredible place to highlight your product and/or brand while supporting the legal community. For more information, contact JoAnna Forshee.
